The European Certification Board: Independent and neutral

The European Certification Board is an independent and neutral body. It coordinates the certification processes of the European Certification Body (ECB) GmbH

Its tasks cover:
  • Definition of the certification procedures
  • Recognition of new cooperation partners
  • Supervision of the certification processes
  • Monitoring of the external quality surveillance
  • Decisions on sanctions
  • Withdrawal of certificates

The European Certification Board has been set up on a parity basis with three representatives each from the insurance industry, the users and the manufacturers. This structure is a guarantee of neutrality and optimally represents the market interests.

The representatives of the manufacturers are at the same time the chairmen of the CEN/TC 263 Working Groups:
  • WG 1 Burglary Resistance
  • WG 2 Fire Resistance
  • WG 3 High Security Locks

This is a guarantee that close links to European standardization are maintained.
